Suddenly lost compression on the lower cylinder. The top cylinder in about 120 psi and the lower is around 30. I pulled the head and there were no signs of scoring or damage to cylinder walls. Fuel was mixed properly and carb adjusted out a little beyond 1 and 1/8 turn. Thoughts and suggestions?

Ah, yes! But what did the head gasket look like? If it is not perfect at the sealing ring, there is the problem.

If it is in good condition, then the next likely culprit would be stuck rings. Before disassembling the engine try decarbing. If that doesn't work, then you will need to pull that piston.
