1988 60 hp merc

I have a 20' pontoon with a 60 hp Merc. on it that idles great but when crusing around if i throttle it up more than half way it boggs down and acts like it is starving for air or gas one. checked primer bulb and fuel tank vent no problems please help

Your trouble can be one or more of many. First you would need to check the compression and the fireing of the plugs. If they are good then a carb rebuild and or fuel pump rebuild should cure your troubles. JMO

This same problem was cured on my 50Hp by replaceing the stator which had an open Ckt. between the Blue and Blue/White leads.

While a possibility, that's a bit down the suspect list.

As oldman said above, start with a compression check, then check spark. I'd add, tell us about any abnormal appearance at the firing end of the plugs (e.g., dry and sooty, "normal" looking, wet-fouled, etc.).
