1988 85 force water issues

Hey guys
My 85hp force some how is not getting water I checked the impeller and it is fine, I blew air from the pee hole and it is coming out from the exaust. I also pulled the t stat and it looked burnt and dry what else should i do.

Try running the motor without the thermostat. That way you'll know if there is a clog in the motor or not.

change the impeller anyway it may look good but still may be bad. it has happend to me

I did run it with out the t stat ad still no water no crack or ay signs of wear on the impeller in fact it looks brand new do you guys think i need to replace it anyway

Are running it on muffs or in a tank? I have never been able to get mine to pump water on the muffs but..put it in the tank and it is fine. I have read that these are sometimes difficult to get primed on the hose. Other than that...I would check for clogged intakes.

it used to run on muffs befor it all happened when I took her out when the weather was 28 degrees out.

I noticed that the impeller housing next to one of the bolts has a small pin hole is that normal

that pin hole is suppose to be there it allow the air to escape to help priming the water system faster... I had the same problem you have.. I replaced the housing, plate and impeller I also sealed the lower unit where the 6 bolts hold it to the lower leg with sealant and my boat with the same year and model engine as you pumps water great now... hope it helps

I found out that my impeller was the cause it looked good but I did not figure that the impeller could spun like a sun hub.
