funny how i try to take care of one thing and end up having two new issues to deal with. I noticed that the steering link has alot of play where it connects to the stud (pivot ball) on the motor. On crowleys marine diagram it looks like there's supposed to be a retainer of some sort beneath the ball that keeps the link shaft in place? #21 on the diagram. For some reason i don;t have it and this link shaft is all over the place and there's lots of play when trying to steer and also the stud is actually loose where its bolted through the motor housing. Does anyone know where I can find a retainer and the screw and washer it comes with? Also can't tell from the diagram how it actually retains the link shaft on the ball and the manuals dont cover this.
Thanks as always

You hit it on the head, Further. There's a little retainer underneath that ball. I part motors and I have a pile of that junk. Send me a PM with your address and I'll ship you one if you'd like. I sell the steering arms on ebay when they're good but some of them have started to rust or whatever and I just throw them in a bucket of junk that I'm going to build a golf cart with someday.
