1988 90 hp Johnson tilt stuck up, i hear it click :)

My motor is stuck in the "up" position at my dock. I recharged the battery and checked the voltage and it is fine. When I press the "down" switch on the controller, I hear it click, and but not really "whir". It's not like the pubp is running and it's not moving, its like it just clicks. Same click on the "up" side.

There is no second switch on the motor.

I found in my manual about where the manual down screw is, and if I cant get it fixed in the water, I gues I will try that to lower it to get it to my trailer for haul out.

It is an 18' center console Cobia.

Any ideas on what to check? I dont have ohm meters and such.

Trace the wires from the motor back to the relay junction box.... unless you know where the junction box is in the first place.

Unplug and switch the relays. If the problem reverses itself, one of the relays requires replacing.
