1988 cheeta remote control shifter

I am repairing the remote control on my 1988 Mercruiser 4.3 alpha serial number 0c430395 model 60110000as. I have the repair kit but need some of your expert help on the steps of how to get it apart and replace the worn parts.
I tried to find the service manual on the remote system but was unable to find one. Any help would be appreciated.

The remote control has nothing to do with the drive or the engine, and may not even be Merc.
Post a picture of your control, then we will know for sure what you have.

Could be a Morse-Teleflex unit... It's almost definitely NOT a Merc control. Got a (slightly bigger) shot from the front?

Need a picture what the thing looks like when mounted on the boat. The part with the handle.
You are also only posting a thumbnail, not the full picture. Way to small to see.
