1988 cobra 4.3 stalls in idle

i have a 1988 cobra 4.3 that runs great full speed but stalls if we try to go slow. Whats the problem? carb? timing?runs when going slow stalls when you start to speed up. ANY HELP would be great.

give it the special... a full tune-up. check the timing while your at it. clean out the carb. and change the fuel filters. make sure that its idleing within spec range as well.

While you are doing that full tuneup, be sure to check the choke. If it's not opening it will flood an engine at idle speed and cause it to die. Do you get any black smoke at idle? Maybe the transom is turning black from excess fuel?
A plugged flame arrester could do the same thing.
