I have twin 88 DT200's that don't seem to be charging the batteries properly. I tested the voltage at the batteries with the motors running at idle and it was about 12.2 volts and with the motors running at 2000 rpm the voltage stayed at about 12.2 volts. Is 2000 rpm enough for the charging system on these motors to output around 14 volts? If not, does anyone have any idea why the charging system on both motors would not be working properly?

Thanls,
Rob

Don't know about the 200, but the 140 back then only put out about 8 amps at full throttle. That amperage will keep a battery charged if it's only used for normal starting, then running at high RPM for awhile. If you have excessive slow speed ops (trolling) and constant amp drain (baitwell pump), you'll probably not keep it up to full charge.
