hey bigz,<br />check the following:<br />compression on all cyls should be within 15psi each other and >120psi on all cyls with a well charged battery.<br />charging circuit. (per the clymer manual)<br />check the oil in the lower unit (it should look fresh with no sign of water)<br />spin the prop with the motor in neutral - if the output shaft wobbles and wanders from centre then you have lower unit problems.<br />check the plugs - they should all look similar. <br />check that the motor starts easily and shifts without stalling or grinding<br />be prepared to change the water pump before you put the motor in the water and budget $150 for this or be prepared to take care of it yourself with the proper repair kit ~$60 for mercury. this is a must!!<br />also plan on replacing the plugs and oil in the lower unit to give yourself a good starting datum.<br />as with any tool the Force motor is only as good as its owner. if you take care of it and understand that all 2-strokes are basic engines requiring, fresh fuel, air and oil it will take good care of you. neglect the 2-stroke and it becomes a hand grenade.<br />good luck!!
