I have a 1988 7.5hp Chrysler/Force/Gamfisher that I got from a neighbor recently.

I put points in it, plugs, a fuel pump, carb kit, water pump, new gear lube, etc....

It runs absolutely wonderful. As long as I by pass the fuel connectors. I has tried 2 fuel line connectors as well as a new motor side connector.

It will run and then all of a sudden the fitting will slam closed and not allow any more fuel to be pulled from the tank. Any ideas?

Again, I connected direct to the fuel pump yesterday and ran it around the chesapeake for 4 hours with no issues.

I don't think that is it. I use the same tank for several small outboards. The only one that has trouble is the chrysler/force/gamefisher fitting.

Is it possible I have 2 bad connectors?

just a few post ago someone was having problems with the male connector, you may have to bite the bullet and go to sears, I have included a link to sears parts lookup. Just put in your model no. and you can lookup the male connector, do you use the female fitting on any other outboard?I just took a look at Iboats chrysler and force fuel connectors...much cheaper than sears, you might find the right part no. at sears and then replace both mail and female fittings.http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action?psid=26128388&sid=PSx20071217x00001a&OVMTC=Exact&site=&creative=3873724584&OVKEY=sears%20parts
