1988 Johnson 155hp Few Q's

I have a 1988 155hp johnson that came on a 19ft boat that i bought last year. Ran good last year had a few problems with bogging down after driving for a few mins. found out it was a problem with water and ethenol. this year went to bring it out and get it ready.. started right up sounded great... died cause gas tank was full of water... fixed that problem.. now it runs fine...

found a few problems now.... tilt trim is not working. determined its going to need a new tilt motor...

lower unit has water in the oil....

motor does not shut off when you take out key...

all problems can be fixed for about 700...
450 for a used lower unit...
120 for a new tilt motor...
50 for a switch...
am i better off buying a new engine??

and do you have to remove the motor to take out the tilt and trim?????

$450. swap on the lower unit seems a tad steep, must be more to it than a seal kit.?

Do you have a full sized water separating fuel filter installed now? That would help with the fuel and water problem.

If it runs good otherwise, you won't be able to get a new or used motor that size for even close to that.
