Okay I have what I bought as a 235hp outboard , on the tags it showed up as a 235hp but after some research I found out the heads are actually from a 175hp and the carbs are 235hp carbs , it is the hump back and I was told the 235 and 175 are both same motors except heads and carbs and a couple other things . My problem is when I first got the motor I was missing the carb silencer so I couldn't hook up throttle and my fuel primer was missing . But I still sprayed some gas in carb and it fired up and ran till it ran out of gas . Okay now to today I got everything hooked up and go to start it and it want start and no spark at the spark plugs on both banks . Also I noticed that my outboard has one CDI unit on it like the newer models and not like the two the older model 235hp take . I have looked up parts for a 1989 175hp and the cdi that is on it doesn't look like the one in the pics , so I'm not sure it is even right or just one they had and thrown own it to sell . My motor spins over good and new battery with good voltage but no spark is there a place to start to check to see if it is the cdi or something else that could be causing it . I have made sure my kill landard and shift interrupter switch are working . But I need wiring diagram and wire to check and procedures on checking the cdi or whatever else it could be . Also is there anyway to find out for sure what motor I have I checked the part numbers on the heads and they came up to a 175hp heads . Thanks

???------Yes the GT 175 has the tuned exhaust.----And you must be aware of propshaft verses crank power ratings.--And you must be aware of marketing.----You must be aware of rebadging to clear out old inventory.
