Engine acts up at start up. Smokes and seems to miss fire. After 3-5 min it seems to run ok. The rest of the day it runs like a new engine.

Can anyone tell me how the choke system works?
Maybe somthing is sticking or needs to be cleaned?

Thanks

T J Gleeson

TGleeson.... By any chance are you pumping that oil primer bulb before starting the engine? If so, don't do that as it temporarily creates a higher percentage of oil in the mixture.

Or.... are you neglecting to pump and prime the fuel primer bulb on that initial start procedure? This creates the same problem as above.

I do not pump the oil bulb and I do pump the fuel bulb. The engine starts right up but smokes and runs rough for 3-5 min.

What is the best RPM for warm up of engine?
