1988 Johnson 90hp removing lower unit, wont come off

I removed all the bolts my manual had described and cant get the lower unit to seperate from the exuast. any suggestions.

Crazy question; but you did disconnect the shift rod?

How many bolts did you take out? There should have been 6.

I figured it out, thanks, is there a thread or can anybody tell me the procedure on how to connect the shift rod back up?

Basically the same way it came off,just reverse the procedure.
