hey guys i have a couple questions .

i have 2 steering cables and the one going through the tilt tube is stuck so i cant move the wheel with it connected. do i really need 2? or will one be enough . also is there any way to get that one cable unstuck?

second while trying to trouble shoot another problem i over tightened the manual relase valve on the trim unit and it broke where would be the best place to get a replacement

thanks for the help

Try shooting a lot of grease in there and where the rod of the steering cable ends, grease that up then hit that with a hammer or mallot. Yes I said a hammer. You will need someone to move the steering wheel while you are beating that thing. I guess you can try to be careful not to maul it up too bad!

For decent prices on tilt/trim units/parts: go2marine.com

Good luck.

If you hit it you may mushroom the end, making it impossible to remove. Rock it back and forth with a pipe wrench, using plenty of penetrating oil. It will eventually work loose. Clean it up and regrease.
