Just picked up a 1988 Merc 115hp outboard to replace the smaller 48hp Evinrude that is currently on my 30' Pontoon. I got the motor cheap cause the guy that owned it was recently crippled and didnt have the time, energy, or motivation to fix. The guy told me the last time he started it, it would idle but nothing more....as soon as he would start to raise the throttle on it, it would die. I had a guy that does most of my other motor work for me tell me that the carbs are prob just plugged up a bit cause it sat for a while. I just got it mounted up on a testing stand and have yet to start it myself due to weather but im currious for some extra input from others who may have delt with this before as to what I should try first if I run into the same prob as he did. Thanks for any input on this....
