I'm about to drop the lower unit on my 1988 Merc/Sea Ray 100 HP outboard. Just had a nightmare of a time putting the lower unit back together on my 70HP Evinrude (couldn't connect the shift rod). Since I actually want to take the boat out tomorrow I can't spend hours and hours trying to put this one back together. I had changed an impeller on a 35 HP Merc and it went like clockwork and I'm hoping it's the same for the 100. Does anyone know from experience how difficult/easy it is to re-connect the lower unit on this engine? I watched a youtube video on a newer 90 HP and it didn't look bad at all. With my luck though it'll probably be an entirely different story!
