Hi all. I'm looking at buying a 1988 sea ray 18' bow-rider with one of sea rays 135hp mercury outboards. The person selling says they have replaced the computers and rebuilt the carbs on the motor. I didn't think those motors had computer controls on them...am i mistaken and are these good motors?

Thanks,
TB

That motor should be a 2.0L V6, and is a standard design, still made today. It came with oil injection, and some of the warning systems could be considered a computer, I guess, but it is a stretch.

They are very good motors IMHO, provided that they have been maintained and cared for, It is best to check compression and the condition of the gearcase oil. The rest of the motor is easy to fix, or a crapshoot in a used motor.
