That is your problem.
Throw that piece of S$$T away and buy an OEM MERC SERVICE MANUAL and follow the instructions for your problem.

ok all you gents, ready for this? and i agree i still need that merc maual, i checked my timing without the idle stabilizer and was hitting less then 4 degrees. how in the world did it get that far off? and my starter has went caputt when checking the timing so whats gonna happen next? it just needs to turn into a really big boat anchor!

I will give you $50 for it...you need a manual to tell you how to set/check the timing..it should be around 4 ATDC at idle then it will advance as you throttle up, this is why your linkage being in sync is important also...you need to set it at 25 BTDC at wide open throttle.

I know the manual is "expensive", but believe me, you need it. If you're serious about maintaining your own engine, it'll pay for itself many times over. If you just want to biotzh, then save the money. I'll give you $60 for the engine.

$70 + an old fire extinguisher, half a paddle, and a life jacket with only one small tear in it... and I will come pick it up

Durnit. I told my wife about the bidding and she wanted to know where the engine is. She wants to hook up the boat and go get it, checking out the fishing along the way of course. BTW, the engine behind her is my XR4.

That's 6-10, in MN where the record is 8-15. 2 biggest fish into the boat last year were on her string. My job title is "Debbies Bass Bote Driver".

Decals can be bought here. Handle is Wildman. Name is Randy.
