I have a 1988 Mercury 50HP 3-cylinder with Quicksilver remote controls. Serial # 0B217717. She sank a month ago. After bailing her out, she ran fine for a few days. Now she won't spark unless I disconnect the mercury tilt kill switch (black/yellow) wire from the control box. There seems to be some discoloration inside the switch (see photo). I see the part in the Mercury diagram (attached) but can't find a part number or replacement anywhere. Mercury says it comes with the Quicksilver remote control, but I can't find it there either. Any ideas how to find the replacement?
Also, is there any way to test if it truly is the mercury switch that is causing the trouble? With the black/yellow disconnected from the control box, she fires right up. I just have to reconnect the wire to shut down the engine, as turning the key to Off doesn't ground it any more. Alternatively, I can push the key in to choke the engine until it shuts down, but I'd much prefer to shut her down by turning the key to Off.
I found this part which looks close, but not exact. https://www.boats.net/product/mercury/58124A19
Thanks for all suggestions!
