Hello, boating newbie and first time poster. Bought first boat 3 wks ago. Not sure what to expect. Will spend next 6 months going through and cleaning. Wanted to ask if anyone knows where to find old brochures? In my case, 1988 Nordic Crestliner 245 Day Cruiser.

Re: 1988 Nordic Crestliner 245 Looking for brochures

Anyone have any info on Crestliner's boats? Good, bad or so, so? Are there any trouble spots? The previous owner's claim to have redone the flooring already and recovered the vinyl. Trailer tires are pretty dry rotted and need replacing. As I mentioned, new to boating. What's the process for tire replacement. Do you buy new rubber and have a mech swap them like you'd do on a car? I'd like to thank everyone in advance. I really enjoy reading about everyones' boat projects. Good luck to you all what your working on.

What powerplant is in this boat? That's where any specific "trouble spots" we can come up with will probably originate. All 20+ year old fiberglass boats have the same potential issues: rot in the transom, deck, and stringers. I'm concerned that yours has had its deck replaced hopefully the previous owner did the job correctly and didn't just band-aid it. As for tires, you can either buy just the tires from a tire shop and have them installed or you can buy whole tire and wheel assemblies from any number of places. If your wheels are in good shape you can probably go with just the tires.

Hi Ezmobee, powerplant is the 350 Merc w/ Alpha 1. We have the boat parked 1hr 30 mins from home and we are trying to gather info on the boat on weekends. One of the step risers going down into Cuddy was open so I took some high resolution pics. Didn't have my flash light handy.. I'll pour over the pics and try to up load. Maybe some of the experienced boaters in this forum might see something thats good or bad and will let me know. The rims appears to be good. Would it make sense to jack up boat and trailer, put on flr jacks and just take tire/rims into tire store for replacment?

Well that's certainly a great powerplant. No issues there. We like pics :) Create a free account on photobucket.com and link to them from here. Putting her on jack stands and taking the rims in sounds like a plan to me. How are the trailer wheel bearings? Mine are totally shot. I'm going to take mine to a local RV shop and have them inspected and probably replaced. I know it's technically an easy job but I enjoy the peace of mind that having it done professionally gives me.

After looking thru some of my shots, (we let our 10 and 12 yr old's take pics) it seems the seller's comment about new flooring might be in question.
I'm not sure I'm doing this link to pictures thing correctly but will see how it turns out.

Cuddy wall coverings questions...

Cuddy wall coverings questions...

Hello, I'm trying to figure out if the white ish carpet like material on the cuddy walls is what was between the hull and original carpet/cuddy wall coverings. Also, the stains in the white material in some pics looks like rust around starboard window and on port side window almost looks like a resin stain. That's why I think the original wall coverings are missing. Any thoughts, suggestions, words of wisdom is greatly apprecitated.
