Hey man, congrats on the splash, looks like a great day with a great family. Glad she floats!
Now, looking at the exterior of your boat, I would try a spot with the heavy duty 3m compound, a small area. Buff it until you see the green come off on your pad at least.
Now that being said, your boat is heavily oxidized and the green is one of those colors that may benifit from wet sanding instead of compounding first. Try a small spot with some 800 grit sand paper then 1000, then 1200 and I bet it makes short work of it. You can get some sand paper at auto zone or pep boys, etc. make sure its for wet sanding. I would not get more aggresive that 600 at the most. But would start with 800.
Getting the stuff off the rails could be tricky, if it s resin, you should be able to just pick it off. The rest of the stuff glue, foam, etc I would stick with some acetone repeatedly until it comes off. You will never hurt the cured gelcoat with acetone, so soak the stuff down good and see if it works. Good luck.
Congrats on getting back in the water. Looks great!![]()
Sorry I missed your splash.
Great job on getting her done so quick!

That guy is no more is true! Not only no more grinding but no more fat guy! I've lost 25 lbs while doing this job. Went from a 38 to a 35.
Gotta get another boat to keep the weight off, oh wait I might have a line on another boat! A buddy's dad owns a storage facility and he's got a live aboard bayliner that he wants to get off his property for free. I'm going to look at her tomorrow but my buddy says its nice looking and that the trailer alone is worth $2,500. Worse case is another project boat. Wait did I just say that out loud:facepalm:? We'll take some pics and post. Might be a dog but it might be another Gem. Keep the fingers crossed!
Shined up like a new penny...way to go SB!
I like the name, too...
If you get a chance, friscoboater has a couple of videos on youtube, of naming and re-naming his boat...pretty neat ceremony...
PS- I just noticed you moved some of your pics/vids in Photobucket...when you do that, it breaks the links to here...you can edit your posts and add the pics back if ya want...
