As my restoration project moves forward, you will see me posting the issues in hopes that it helps others.

Boat has it's original 100/115 Mercury OB on it with a non-working trim motor. I did the basic diagnosis of testing the trim switch on the controls. This is a three wire setup using two soleniods (one for up and one for down). Power fed back to the down soleniod when I engaged the up switch and vice versa. This meant that the motor was bad. The motor appeared to have been worked on before as it was coated in silicone. Very odd on a boat with no keel marks whatsoever, no time on the engine, overall this boat was just never used.

Looking up parts by serial number B292295, it brings me to a certain model. I ordered that trim motor based on looking at a few of the models and them all having what looked like a flat blade drive coming out of the trim motor. Picked a low cost replacement of part number 811628 off Amazon that comes with two relays to replace the solenoids and update the motor to a two wire setup for $70.

Upon pulling the engine off the back of the boat and getting the trim motor freed up, it has a hex drive. Looking through all the models possible, there is one with a hex drive and it has a pumping unit attached/available part number 99186T. I purchased a unit that has the pump as well in hopes that I can get it up and running on the second try (not wanting to have the third time be the charm). Here's the clincher, I found that most of these units are going for about $140.... I found one on Amazon for $50. It looks identical to the Sierra replacement that costs $450. Here goes nothing!

Updating for anyone that finds they have this same part. Due to the unit having the pump attached, you do need to follow the full procedure of pulling the engine off the boat and then pulling the right side transom bracket off. Overall it was easy work with the correct tools (including an adjustable wrench lol),

$50 trim motor with pump is working great. Still have just a little bleeding to do, but overall it's fairly smooth on the up and down. We will see how long it lasts, so far...it's making me very happy.
