Re: 1988 Seebold Silver Eagle 265 Complete Restoration

Wow...great thread! I'm just getting restarted on my 21 Seebold I/O, which needs a gas tank, stringers and a floor. I'll be starting a thread on this project soon, and can only hope to make 1/3 the rate of progress you did. Very impressive...and your work looks superb!
I too will credit Friscoboater's awesomely helpful videos and forum posts with giving me confidence...great work Jay, you're helping a whole bunch of people learn the right way to get it done. Keep up the good work! Nice to see the CVX-18 project...my first boat was a CVX-16 so it brings back some memories.
I used to work for a Seebold dealer (got mine that way), and we sold several of the exact boat you have. They are a 70 MPH boat with the right prop. Seebold was ahead of their time with the pad keel and notch transom hull. At the time, only Velocity and Fountain were using this design...so its in good company...and well worth the restoration work.
The previous glass repair on the rear of your hull may have been done at the factory. We had a couple of them get delaminations of the hull in the keel area (scarey stuff), and Seebold readily took them back for repairs.
Looks like you're fixing all the weaknesses of the initial build, and making some nice upgrades!
