After grinding and demolition I have invested mostly sweat. Now its time to put down some money. What is the best wood for the stringers? They will be fully encased and tabbed with 1708. I noticed at Lowes the other day that a length of one inch oak isn't terribly priced and white board is cheap. My stingers will be 7 1/2 feet a piece with a shelf in the bilge. (Will be tying in the front of the stringers to the bow stringer section.)
Is plywood the best for the stringers or can one of these long dimensional pieces work?

Thanks,
Clif
