1988 Yamaha 130 ETXG - Trim Cylinder End Cap dust seal

I've scraped out the old dust seal revealing what appears to be a pressed-in brass insert. The brass insert does not appear to receive the replacement dust seal. The Yamaha parts diagram makes no reference to the brass insert. Is the brass insert a "legacy" of the old dust cap and to be removed? (Note: this is not the snap ring that many models have). Thanks!!!

Answered my own question. The brass insert was the "skeleton" of the old dust seal (providing its stiffness). Pried it out, no probs. Thanks if you looked at my post.
