1988 yamaha pro 50 fuel problem?

Took my 1989 alumacraft 18 ft simi v with a 1988 yamaha pro 50 to the lake today for the first time since I bought it. I have two gas tanks, it seemed kinda hard to warm up, kept dying when put in gear. I finally got it going, took it to wot and it died about in about 60 seconds. I could not get the fuel bulb to pump up so I switched tanks and it seemed to be fine. My question is, are these tanks vented as that seemed to be the problem. After that it ran great.
