I really enjoy the forum and thought I would throw this out there. I picked up a second boat the other day to either part out or get running and sell/part out. It had been sitting for quite some time. Changed the fluids, drained the gas, changed plugs, points (set points) and condenser. Before the points and plugs change, I had no spark. I have spark now; but all it does is turn over and misfire once in a while (maybe once per revolution). Is it possible that I have a the distributor in 180 degees off. Is that even possible? anyone have any thought? thanks mike

Also- I double checked my plug wires and that they are on the correct cylinder.

What Bondo said. It only fires every other time the piston is at the top so yes it is easy to be 180 degrees out.

Worked!. It was flipped around and off by a few degrees. It took a while to get it to seat the other direct- gears had to mesh. Boat sat for 7 years- kicked right over. thank yiou
