1989 25hp Evinrude compression release

Hi, 120# compression each cylinder. motor spins freely without plugs, with the spark plugs installed the motor does not want to turn over with the starter maybe 2 compression strokes, and by hand about the same. The motor is in netural during these tests.Is there a compression release on this motor?

I used a car battery which is fully charged, trying to start by hand is real difficult maybe 2 revolutions and I'm pulling real hard it don't seem normal

Fully charged is 12.7 volts...12 volts is dead. Squirt some storage oil in the cylinders and crank it over a bit to lube thing up and see what happens. Check for corroded connections !!

Does that have a recoil starter on it. Those motors are pretty stout to pull. Check all your electrical connections. Make sure they are shiny clean the grounds on the block also.

Thanks for the input, it was in the wiring bad ground, the motor purrs like a kitten
