I bought a 1987 Bayliner Trophy Hartop from an individual who claimed it just needed a carburetor and starter bolts. I rebuilt the Carburetor and noticed some rust in the intake and figured he let rain get inside, I installed the starter with new bolts. Installed 2-new marine batteries, changed the spark plugs, points and condenser, installed fresh non-ethanol fuel and tried to fire it up. It would not crank, just clunk clunk... I pulled the plugs back out and looked inside the spark plug hole and found rust and gunk. I pulled the motor out, I now have it dis-assembled. Cylinder walls look better than I figured it would.. no ridge at the top but rings were frozen in place. PB blaster and oil and working back and forth I got it to turn over, I rotated crankshaft to remove pistons one after the other. I’m ready to order new gaskets and rings and bearings but want to make sure I get the right ones. The piston’s are stamped 020, the rod bearings are stamped STD, The main bearings are stamped STD.
