hi engine starts ok, idles ok, runs ok but when dropping engine down from shallow runing (manually) it cuts out. It starts again and runs ok. But when you are launching into the Irish sea with surf its a bit worrying.I have tried dropping whilst increasing the revs but it still cuts out. hope you can help before I end up calling the coast guard Thanks Casio

Hi casio....sounds like a couple pinched wires in the harness. Probably where they go into the engine. Try starting the engine up and moving the harness around a little to see if it dies. Also look around inside the cover for any burned or chaffed wires that may move when changing tilt positions.

OBJim :D

Is this an instant stall in this situation,or do we degenerate, and finally stall?Try this. While you are out there ,out of harms way, experiment with the way this engine runs at different degrees of tilt.If it idles nicely tilted up but poorly tucked all the way in you may well be looking at recirc issues.

outboard jim you hit the nail on the head I took your advice and moved the harness about found that when the engine was trimed down the gear shift outer cable made the harness move. This slight movement was enough for the harness to come into contact with the fly wheel on closer examination found that one wire had been stripped and was making contact with the fly wheel.I have rerouted the harness and tapped up the cable. I will let you know what happens on my next trip thank you very much for your help. Also thanks to hondon for your help. best regards casio
