If it's a 2 strokes 50 HP Tohatsu, you'll be comparing a 700 CC 3 cylinder against a 500 CC 2 cylinder of the 40C, 200 CC more should make a difference. You could sell the 40C as second hand to be placed on lighter boats. Have you ordered same size/pitch ?

Happy Boating

I went to a prop with a pitch of 9 should be here next thurs

Ok I got my prop but the diameter doesn't allow it to spin without hitting the cavitation plate..

A propeller stopper is a spacer on the propshaft that allows for correct fit and function on the prop. Also, where did you get the prop from? Go to a Tohatsu/Nissan dealer and get the correct one.

Always buy OEM when possible. Aftermarket items, regardless of where purchased, are usually off in application, dimensions and quality. As to the stopper, it takes up slack on the prop shaft and keeps the propeller from wobbling around. Depending on the prop you got, it may not be used as aftermarket propellers frequently do not use all or part of the required OEM hardware.
