I have a 1989 50HP Evinrude VRP that i picked up from someone who knows nothing about boats. They told me the lower end needs either replacing or fixing. I have the lower unit removed, as well as the water pump etc... I am having trouble figuring out how to remove the drive shaft and prop shaft in order to trouble shoot the internals.
Does anyone have a suggestion on dis-assembling the lower unit in order to inspect & repair??
I am also looking for a factory repair/service manual. I have come across a few... but they all seem to be really lax with info in order to reconnect the gas tank and verify all wiring etc and to do a compression test. ... any suggestions?
