please help me new too sight butlooks like great info.I'm having problems with motor got boat for free from friend. it runs but backfires and miss. compresion is 130 on all cyclinders. plugs do have some oil on them after it runs is the carbs out of adjustment ? seems too be running rich so should i mess with adjustment screws ? and the carbs out of syc ? please help thanks

There is a procedure for link and sync of the carburators and timing. That will need to be verified before adjusting the carbs. You can however make sure the idle screws are 1 turn out from lightly seated.

Go ahead an replace your fuel pump diaphram since you probably don't know when it was changed last. You may also look in the FAQ in the beginning of the maintenance forum section. It has a thread called Waking up a sleeping engine that you should read.
