Two tiny allen head screws.
Why remove it? It's there for safety.
You need to hook the two wires together or the motor won't start.

sorry should have explained better. Going to replace it. I jumped it out and the motor fired right up had 12 volts on one side and zero on the other even when stroking the switch. Looked a tad confusing getting it off. Thanks!

Knocking a little dust off of this one but yes those switches DO go bad sometimes. The 55hp Chrysler my Dad owned back in the 70s went bad and was replaced. A fellow Boater back in the same time frame had a "no starter" issue at the launch ramp / dock, Dad found and jumped their switch and it fired right up. FF 10 years with my SeaKing / Chrysler 45hp, the switch was already jumped but since I was the only one who drove the LoneStar "Batboat" and I knew it would start in gear . . . . .

Now with my "new" and current '87 Force 85hp, I think I'll have to adjust the switch. Trying here to figure exactly where neutral is as the switch says yes while the interlock linkage(?) says no. I didn't adjust or move anything when I had the foot down changing the impeller

You put it back together, then find N ,while shifting, rotate the prop, that relieves the pressure and makes shifting easier.
Once in N then check the switch for location, then adjust as needed.

Thanks Jerry. I'll get to that in the next few days, it's raining ⛈️ and booming 🌩️ outside today and I noticed after routing the cable back in place one had developed even more cracks in the red sheathing 🙁 By the time I get finished with fixing up my new 61yo boat she'll be all but brand new, new cables have been ordered. I'll give an update here and on my thread "New Boat For Christmas"

🖖 I hope to, my Dad lived to be 88 and was still active in his woodshop behind his house. A gut infection took him out
