Yes, you are getting into stuff that will be a lot easier if you get a service manual.

You may have a problem with your "spark plug pack", but the real problem now seems to be water in the cylinder. You need to find the source of this water, and assess the amount of damage it may have caused.

ok, i double check the spark plug in the bottom that look clean, there is no water...that is a good sign. I checked the spark plug wires/packs, all three is ok. this is what i did to check it, i kept just one plug and unplug the other two, the top one is started and ran. i did the middle same result, but when i tried the third bottom one, it won't start, it only cranks, but won't start. i think it might be the cd pack caused the problem. any ideas? where do i get those cd pack? should i replace both of them or just the one that hook up to the bottom spark plug?

Those cd modules each have 2 outputs, to supply 2 spark plugs..
One module is currently supplying 2 spark plugs.
The other module is supplying one spark plug, and has another output that is not being used because you have a 3 cylinder motor.

With any luck, the unused output is in working order, and it can be hooked up to the third cylinder.

so i narrowed it down to 2 things that did not send any sparks to the third piston...one of those Ignition Module ($140/each) or the stator. so i ordered the one ignition module, it's coming on Monday and i will replace it. I am praying the stator is not the one. it already costs me a arm, i don't want to waste another leg too. oh i got the tach hooked up, it works good, the rpm is right about 1100 rpm on idle, it seem little too high i think, but just 2 motors running, so that might be the reason why it was little high. thanks so much for all your responds so far...i am very close to close out this motor....i will keep you all post on monday.

hello, everyone!
thank you so much for all your advices and ideas. i got a very good news on my boat....i fixed it today, i was so happy. can't wait to take it out the water tomorrow. Got the tach installed. it works great, it runs about 1000 rpm in neutral. the problem was not the cdi pack, it was one of the wire got hook up wrong from the previous owner. I did n't realize it until i received new cdi unit, it came with the instruction. This is what i did to get it fixed (in case someone have the same problem as i do here). First make sure that you have all the wires of the 1st cdi unit hook up to #1 and #2 pistons. Second hook up just one cdi unit for your #3 piston, but make sure the BLUE WIRE HOOK TO THE BLUE WIRE OF THE #1 AND #2 PISTON. and that will solve your problem. Don't matter what you do, make sure that you unplug the battery when you working with this stuff, or else it will cost you more than just this problem. Again, thank you for all of you help, give advices and take time to response to my concerns. One more thing "thank you very much for the owner of this site, great website".

I have the same boat with the same problem. Only i bought the boat for the original owner. so i called him and asked what the deal was and he told me it stalled out like that since the day he bought it. you need to go a little bit passed the click to get it going. it's a little tough to get used to but try using two hands top and bottom of the shifter to control that extra little bit. watch en reverse if you go to far the engin will fly up out of the water. good luck.
I brought this boat 89 bayliner with o/b 85hp on ebay last couple months ago. It runs great when i can get it shifts forward/reverse, but sometime when i shift it, it died on me. Is there any fix for it? with some reason, my boat only goes 21 mph....is there reason why? I am thinking about getting 150 hp motor for my boat, but i don't know if that's a good idea, can the boat will hold that big of the motor? please suggest???? are there anything out there that could support my transom for the big motor? any of your responds are appreciated. anyone have 150 motor want to sell please let me know...buddyle2002@hotmail.com
