the promblem im having wth motor issues is, rough idling, motor dies when you put the boat in reverse, and top speed less then 20mph guessing, ( speedometer dont work).
i traded the boat last fall for my truck, guy said last time ran was like in july or so, all i have done was replaced the sparkplugs wth brand new NGK sparkplugs. if gas gauge is correct it has 3/4 of tank full of gas, if correct. i have put in 5 gallons of non ethenol gas, having the mixture of 50:1 mix wth 2 cyl engine oil i used for my dirtbike.
Also at first when i got the boat running out on the river, when you turn the motor to turn the boat the motor would die on you, but after running the motor for awhile it quit dying on me.
honestly my idea is to drain all the old gas out and put fresh gas back in it, but wanted to get some ideas what people think they would do or had a similiar problem. does anyone know how many gal my gas tank is also, its a 17ft bayliner capri 1989. ty

Yes, drain the old gas! Change fuel filter as well, probably need to go through the carbs if they had gas sitting in them for that long as well.
