I have a 1989 2150 capri bowrider with a merc 305-230HP and a cobra outdrive. I cant get the ignition key to do anything. The gauges do not come to life, no backlight on the gauges, the engine wont crank. I tested for voltage with the key on at the dead man/drunk overboard switch and I have 12v there with the key on. I have power at the fuse panel under the steering wheel, have power for bilge/blower/horn, etc just no ignition. Please help, want to get on the water this weekend!

Welcome to iboats!

You clearly have power to the ignition switch. Start by checking for voltage at the small terminal of the starter solenoid with the key in the start position. You also need to ensure the gauges are properly wired to the ignition switch.

Okay, I went under the helm, pulled every fuse, sprayed contact cleaner on all the contacts put a dab of dieelectric grease on each, squeezed the terminals and put all new fuses in. Problem solved! I even have a horn now!
