do not send hastings link. I have a copy. I spoke to someone who said find true neutral by taking both cables off. Shift and throddle cables. Now pull shift cable to reverse and have someone spin prop by hand to fully engage reverse gears. Mark the cable w/ a sharpee and do the same for foward. True neutral is in the middle of the two marks. What do you do after you find the neutral. Anyone

Personally, I always set the cable with the use of the manual and it works fine that way. That's an interesting way and may work. Its just not the way described by OMC. I think a variation would be to pull/push the cable just enough that the dogs START to mesh and use that as your marks for forward/reverse.
