Thanks for the info guys. The PO installed the reeds. I don't know if he had this jetted or not. I've never had this running right. It keeps running away on me.

I've only had this motor running twice. First time was on muffs and when I started it, it went in a runaway state. It shut off after I removed the gas line. The second time I ran it for no more than a couple of minutes. I had it in a barrel. Although it didnt runaway at the start, it was slowly picking up speed. It got very hot to touch.

AHA.....the plot thickens...

any way to ask the PO if it ever ran right after the reeds?

did you look up the expected jet sizes? what is the motor's model number?

It's obvious that the PO wasn't totally truthful about this motor to begin with so contacting would prove nothing. I still have the carbs off and will be pulling the intake off to inspect the reeds and gasket, etc. I now have to wait for a choke solenoid kit. When I pull the little tubes off one of the nipples broke off. The dealer can't get any of those parts because they don't make them anymore.

Model number is E100STLCEM

Heve you checked the flywheel key or the link and sync or the throttle cable?. Only certain reeds need to be re-jetted so finding out what kind are in there is important.

what nipple broke off...post a pic...

jot down all of your orifices for each carb, Compare them with what the engine calls for then contact Boysen for their recommended jet sizes....ask them if the idle and intermediate jets/air bleeds (I don''t know if this motor has those or not)....may just have idle mixture screws

This is the bottom of the choke solenoid. The two lines come from the carbs and go to this. The inside one broke off.

It might help if you took video of how it's running. Post to Youtube and link.

I will. I just have the carbs off right now and will be taking the intake off to inspect the reeds and gasket. I have to locate a primer solenoid kit, I broke off one of the nipples taking the little rubber hoses off. Once I get this back together I will post a video. I may be hiding around my garage in case she blows up, lol.

Back to the motor. So I took the orifices out and got the numbers off of them. They don't match what is listed in the parts sites. In the exploded diagrams the are listed as number 3, 7, and 13. Here is what I have:
3- 27C. There are 2 on each carb.
7- 34. There are 2 in each carb.
13- 57C. There are two in each carb.

These numbers don't mean anything to me but if anyone else knows if things are right then please let me know.

So I'm tearing everything off the intake. I got the 10 intake bolts out. Removed the throttle assemblies. I didn't try to hard but used a piece of wood trying to get the intake to feee up. Am I missing anything? I believe I have everything removed. But I did notice 4 screws. Worth the be holding me from removing it. I can't see it.

The Phillips head screws hold the reeds onto the back of the manifold - they don't have to be removed to get the manifold off the crank case.

And in the post where you list the jet sizes on your motor, what does BRP say should be in each location since you say yours don't match?
