Hello. I've got a '89 Evinrude 225 pushing a 23' 1979 Powercat (looks like a Mako cuddy cabin despite the name).
I have two questions-What should my WOT rpms be? I currently hit 5000.
Also, the stainless prop (don't know the pitch) has two quarter inch irregularities (1/4" long and 1/4" bowed out from the blade edge) in two of the prop blades where the previous owner hit something. Do these affect performance much?
Thanks.

21' boat

19p OMC-aluminium prop 6000+ rpm/ 48 mph (GPS)
23P Rapture SST 5200 rpm / 55 mph (GPS)

I'm trying to get aroud 6000 rpm.

I'm lookin best prop/engine height... now engine is too low... I'm waiting 19" SST, let's see what kind speed/rpm I'll get.. expecting around 6100 rpm and 55 mph. Most likely 21" would be better for my boat.

myoutboards, wich prop you have? Raker?

Forgotten to say, if you have too "hard" prop, it will make fuel economy better, but most likely it will break the engine.

(too much gas for low rpm)

Once more, for the first post:

All damages at prop are fatal to bearings and gears! repair/replase soon as possible. Prop looses balace (and efficiency)
