1989 Evinrude 48 spl lower unit? Worth it?

What years and horsepower lower unit can fit on a 1989 Evinrude 48 spl I may buy a 48 spl for 100 says it’s running but they lower unit is completely apart.. is it worth it?

Only the 89 / 90 / 91 / 92 lower units are a direct bolt on fit.----40 /48 / 50 HP models use the same units in those years.

Think I would do a compression check, and see what the story is on the l.u. (may be an easy fix). Could be a good find.

I wanted to get it to fix up and flip I have an 88 spl on my Cajun fish and ski. But the lower unit in this 48 is gutted. He says he’s not sure if all parts are there.
