how does it go in?is it round washer then thermostat then spring?what direction does the thermostat face?

INSERT THE THERMOSTAT WITH THE SPRING FACING OUTTHE BYPASS SLOT FACING UP

it goes in washer thermostate then spring, dome of thermo facing towards you or the thermo housing cover..... good luck
