ATF will work fine, fill thru screw hole on side of pump, pump is self bleeding , repair striped threads by installing elbow with pipe threads and pipe plug.Replace pilot valve seal, pn 820719, will stop leak down. Remove piolt valve by removing allen screw from side of pump, pry off end of valve that has hole in center, inside is valve needle , seal on end of needle.

You can get seal at Force/Merc dealer. Fluid will drain when you remove valve, No instruction in manual because, parts for hyd pump not serveiced. Remove valve call me at 352-746-1953 after 7 PM EST, I can tell you how to get to the seal, or e-mail me photo of valve Clanton@atlantic.net.
