1989 Force 125h.p. Flywheel Magnet Question?

My 89 Force flywheel magnet is the band type that glues to the inside of the flywheel! It has about a 3/16 in. gap or so where the ends meet.

Is this correct or should it touch together at the ends?
And what would be the negative effects if it's not right the way it is?

Should it be replaced if wrong? Thanks, max!

Most of the flywheels I have seen don't have that much of a gap, but I don't think your alternator stator will even notice it.

Where the gap is, is normally where the ends of two magnetized sections are. If you were missing say half of a magnetized section, or if the ends were loose, then I would worry.

Thanks!

Hey! Wait a minute are you saying that the ends of the magnet need to be positioned at a certain place in the flywheel? It was already loose when I took the flywheel off to replace the stator. Don't think I took that into account when I glued it back in 3 or so years ago!
