Re: 1989 Force 85 stalls at full throttle
Here's where I'm at... I can't figure it out. So far I've put in brand new fuel line & primer bulb. Installed new diaphragm and check valves in the fuel pump. Took apart, cleaned and rebuilt the carbs. Reed valves are good.
Took the boat out yesterday and it took a good 45 seconds to plane off, but it eventually did, ran at a steady 21 MPH for about 3-4 minutes then started to lose power. Dropped it into neutral and the motor kept running. When I throttled up again, the boat would not go faster than 8 MPH at WOT. Dropped it into neutral and took off the fuel line to check the screen. It was clean. Put it back in and throttled up again. This time it planed off (a little better than the first time) and I ran it back to the dock at WOT with no problems (5-6 minutes). WOT was about 25-26 MPH. Slower than it should be but we were running into the wind and had 2 adults (combined 420 lbs). I was happy that I was able to run it back to the dock at WOT without losing power but it's still not planing off very well, and loses power often.
Any ideas? I'm almost positive it's a fuel delivery issue, but just can't pinpoint it. Thanks.
