Just curious..... what kind of seats are you installing? If it's pedestals I would add some support from outside to inside stringers where you installed the strip for the deck hatch :)

Now that is a really good question Rick. I still don't know. I would like to have the pedestal seats but I guess I end up with the Wise back to back from Walmart. Can't beat the price $140.
What are you installing? Do you know how the bow backrests are attached to the hull?

Your stringer IS an integral part of the Strenth of your hull. A Plain Butt joint is NOT advisable. Even though it will be "Sistered" a butt joint will be susceptible to the stresses of wave and wakes. I would highly recommend you try to attempt the scarf joint in some manner. IF you do just use a butt joint then PLEASE use Epoxy on the joint and NOT Poly resin. Epoxy is much stronger. If you do this then you have the issue of Poly NOT wanting to stick very well to Epoxy so you have to make sure NOT to get much squeeze out so your layups will work. A lot to think about

What if he did a splice like mine wood? I sistered both sides of the splice with 3/4 ply 36" laps....csm and poly resin between the layers, clamped and screwed together till cured? Mine was in the exact same spot and with out pulling the cap its a tough spot to do a scarf joint..... I know the scarf is the better way but where the joint is it's a bear to do.....

I'm putting the captain chairs back in thats why all the support under my deck in that area....

The cushions should be attached with nuts...... open the bow seats and reach up behind the cushions.... you'll find them :)

Like I said, If using a Butt joint I'd use epoxy on the lams and try to avoid any squeeze out. MUCH stronger!!! And YES the MORE overlap the better. One saving Grace here is the bulkead. It will really help take some of the stress. Guess this "Dumb Okie" is just being a little Paranoid.

On another note..... hows the fuel tank look?? any corrosion? I would pressure test it before you install it for good :) You will also want to be sure you have rubber strips under the tank to keep moisture for laying against the aluminum.... That's what makes them corrode...

Your next step is to get glass and resin.....then put a coat of resin and hardener on all of your wood and let it cure....then you can bed your stringers and bulks and glass them in.

Try a little heat, like a propane torch, and the BFH. It took a LOT of persuasion for mine to finally pop but it did. Make SURE to check that there is NO PIN or anything that is holding it on the shaft.

Re: 1989 Four Winns 200 Horizon Restoration

Sorry Wood.
Well I used a SW puller two M5 bolts a few washers, a lot f-words, and a lot of force. Thats it, easy. LOL
But still, I can't get the cable out of the tube by the engine. I guess I need to find another way to lube that cable.
