But only try Woodonglass' method when you're peeing in water.

Why not just put a little see-thru stain on that plywood (after you sand off the stamp, of course) and then coat it in some clear poly. A small amount of woodgrain always looks good on any boat, in my humble little opinion. Otherwise, I'd go the vinyl route.

I am back from Phoenix, 1100 miles shopping roundtrip. I got all my glass supplies now and I guess I am ready to tackle the fiberglass job now.

Re: 1989 Four Winns 200 Horizon Restoration

Alright, quick update and a question.
I sanded the outside of my cut are and put 2 layers of CSM on there. So I guess the patch is complete "only" sanding it smooth and gelcoat left. Also I put my stringers in tact them with my brad nailer. Here is my question, should I use PL to fill the gap between the hull and the stringers or should I use peanut butter to do so?
Thanks guys

Re: 1989 Four Winns 200 Horizon Restoration

Done for today. I covered all my wood pieces with 1.5oz CSM. Sanded my hull patch smooth, I guess it turned out nice. Can someone give me an advice how to apply the gelcoat. My thoughts are first layer without wax and the second one with wax added. Here are some pics.
Cheers, Miller Time

Stringers and bulkheads are in the boat, bedded in PL. Now they need to dry for 48 hours, so I guess I could start tomorrow with the gelcoat repair.
Any advice for the gelcoat would be appreciated.

Well this is one area that I am NOT very good on. I would recommend using a 4" foam brush. Mix it to the consistency of thick paint and brush it on. It is Resin so it will set up as such. Google up applying gelcoat with a brush and you'll learn a lot. You'll be doing some sanding and buffing and polishing to get it blended in. Look into Preval Sprayers too. Lot's of guys use them. Pretty neat little systems.

I thought I can start glassing in the stringers today. Well the PL is still soft  so I guess I will do that tomorrow.
At least I got a call from a friend of my who will laser cut my instrument panels  today :D . We will see how that turns out.

Re: 1989 Four Winns 200 Horizon Restoration

The PL is gunna STAY soft even when Fully cured. It will get HARDER but NEVER totally HARD. After it SKINS over and it has been 48 hours it will stop putting off the gases and vapors that prevent the glass from sticking so... if it's been 48 hours you can start glassin...

Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there.

Wow!! I was did not post for 8 days. Shame on me.
Well I did made some progress. I got all the stringers glassed in, the deck is cut, the tank supports are cut and ready to go in. No progress on my dashboards, yet. Next Friday the electrical stuff gets installed.
Pictures will follow tonight.
