I bought this boat at the end of last summer and have been going over the engine with a fine tooth comb if you will and realized it has a Merc. Carb on it. It idles at 600-700 RPM and seems great. The last owner stated someone tried to put a four barrel carb on it but couldn't get it right so I am guessing they went back to a 2v Merc and was wondering if this is a better carb then the rochester? It seems new so it cost someone serious bucks so why replace the oem. Merc carb does not have a vacuum on it, electric choke. Anyway I replaced the esa and the set up works wonderful just trying to understand the reasoning for the carb possibly common practice for these era cobras for better running or just a freak thing? thanks guys!
