hi all, new to the outboartds please help. took oil injection off. do pre mix now 50/1. still after runn boat for couple hours the alarm still goes off. at first i can stop it by throtle down a little, but after a while it takes over and shuts me down. it will start right back up and idle fine, but can only drive it very very slow to keep alarm off. peehole looking good, good flow, new t-stats, already disscoed the oil alarm harness,no white smoke. this alarm i know is nesassary. plaese help me! I need to get to water... :confused: ps.this is a 89 ebbtide 18 ft.

Water pump??? You mentioned the thermostats were new.

just got this boat, last owner had not ran a stat in this motor for the last 4 years. the old one of my friends says it good, kinda thing....lol anyway as for impeller or pump sayes he had it serviced "maintanance" does not remem what all they did ....bs....iam thinkin of tring it with out stats. see what happens,

boat also has jackplate 5in back lowerd it all the way if this helps

That motor has an alarm for low fuel pressure. If the horn goes off and you can make it quit by reducing throttle, that's it.

thank you for the info Dhadley, how do i check the pressure? and check to see for sure if it has press alarm and in the book i got is says 1988 and and back was the ones with the fuel pressure alalm. thnaks again!

The vacuume switch is T'd into the fuel line as it comes in the motor. Right after the small white filter and before the fuel goes to the fuel/oil pump. It'll have a tan wire on it. <br /><br />You could check it with a vacuume gauge but if you don't have one just run the boat and as the horn goes off reduce throttle but don't shut it off. The fuel bulb may be sucked flat. If not, pump the bulb and see if that makes the horn stop.

ok guys here is my next step and question. i checked all compression yesterday all had between 75 too 77 #' of pressure is this ok? iam on my way to the boat store to pick ip new water pump complete kit w/housing and fuel pump repair kit. this should elem all possable probs? what u guys think????

new water pump installed. mechanic tells me that the 75 too 77 press on cylinders is not enough, sayes that head gaskets are good told me to spray out cyls with carb cleaner and press will restore. is this true. Please help. could this be yhe reason i have a cold start problem?
